At R&C Fence, Inc., we have been dedicated to providing exceptional fencing services to both commercial and residential clients in Indiana for over five decades. Our story began in 1970, when three friends, Don and Dave Roop, and Curt Collins, started installing fences as a subcontractor for another company in Fort Wayne. With a humble beginning and a passion for quality and service, we have grown to become one of the premier fence companies in the region.
Our History
Our journey started in the early 1970s when the three friends worked the night shift at B.F. Goodrich and installed fences during the day. After the strike ended, they continued to receive phone calls for installation, and our company, R&C Fence, was born. In 1974, the Roop brothers decided to go full-time in the business, while Curt decided to sell his share and stay at B.F. Goodrich. Over the years, we operated from a garage and later from a small property on Avondale Drive in Fort Wayne.
Expansion and Growth
In 1986, we expanded by adding a retail store to sell picnic tables, patio furniture, and billiards. By 1989, we had outgrown our location on Avondale Drive and purchased a new property to expand our operations. We operated under the name "R&C Fence and Casual Living Center" until the early 2010s, when we phased out the retail business to focus on commercial fence installations and specialty work. Today, we serve clients throughout the state of Indiana, northwest Ohio, southern Michigan, and northern Kentucky.

Our commitment to excellence is exemplified by our dedicated staff, many of whom have served the company and its customers for decades. We take pride in our ability to tackle complex commercial projects and provide exceptional service to both residential and commercial clients. As a testament to our commitment, we have received numerous certifications and awards, including those from the American Fence Association, the Better Business Bureau, and the Building Contractors Association of Northeast Indiana.

Installation Quality and Issues
Randy, a previous customer, initially gave R&C Fences a 1-star review, citing issues with the vinyl fence's quality and installation. He stated that the fence was barely 6 years old and had to be replaced due to posts raising out of the ground. He felt that the company had inadequate communication and installation practices. However, Randy later updated his review in 2018, stating that the issues were addressed, and he was pleased with the company's performance.
Customer Service and Communication
Nicole Reid gave the company a 1-star review, criticizing their professionalism and responsiveness. She felt that the company was hard to reach and failed to follow through on commitments. Lou Mes also gave a 1-star review, stating that he had difficulty setting up a quote with the company and received poor communication.
Praise and Satisfied Customers
On the other hand, several customers gave positive reviews. Jennifer Smith, Melanie Kennedy, and Kelly Jo all gave 5-star reviews, praising the company's excellent installation quality, professionalism, and customer service. Denise Rollins also gave a 5-star review, mentioning that the installer was amazing and the construction of the fence was top-notch.
Property Line Issues
Junior Henning gave a 3-star review, citing issues with the company's failure to accurately determine property lines, resulting in a fence that did not align properly with his property.
