Citiworks, Corp. has a rich and storied history that begins in 1876, when it was founded as City Coal Co. in Pawtucket, RI. Over the years, the company evolved into a contracting business specializing in exterior fence and iron work. As the company grew, it expanded its product offerings to include specialty construction items, ensuring year-round production.

In the 1960s, Citiworks, Corp. purchased Whatcheer Wire of Providence, RI to expand its woven wire products business. In the 1980s, the company acquired Dinn Fence and Highland Wire Works of Dorchester, MA to gain additional market share in the Boston area. Then, in the early 1990s, Citiworks, Corp. purchased the assets of Compton Partitions of Franklin, MA to add to its expanding toilet partition and accessory market.

The most prominent products added to Citiworks, Corp.'s mix have been electronic gate operators and access control equipment, which were added in the 1980s. These additions have enabled the company to offer complete perimeter security systems, including fencing and automated gates. Today, Citiworks, Corp. also provides a service department for its customers to properly maintain the products it installs.
