Welcome to Pacific Fencing Club, a premier fencing institution located in the Bay Area. Our commitment to education, enjoyment, and competitive training sets us apart from other fencing clubs. Since our establishment in 1984, we have been dedicated to fostering a love for the sport and helping our students achieve their fencing goals.
Our Expertise
At Pacific Fencing Club, our director and head coach, Harold Hayes, is a Fencing Master (Maitre d'Armes) certified by the International Academy of Arms and the United States Fencing Coaches Association. With a rich background in philosophy, history of consciousness, and military provost at arms, Maestro Hayes has extensive knowledge and experience in the art of fencing. He has also trained with some of the world's greatest fencers and coaches, including those from the Soviet Union and Poland.
Our Services
We offer a comprehensive introductory course in fencing that is designed to provide a thorough understanding of the sport. Our program is tailored to meet the needs of both beginners and experienced fencers. We focus on teaching proper techniques, strategies, and safety guidelines to ensure that our students can enjoy the sport while minimizing the risk of injury.
In addition to our regular classes, we also host special events and tournaments that allow our students to test their skills against other fencers. These events provide an excellent opportunity for our students to gain valuable experience, build confidence, and develop a deeper appreciation for the sport.
Our Facilities
Pacific Fencing Club is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities that are designed to meet the specific needs of fencers. Our club features a spacious, well-lit fencing area with electric scoring machines and safety equipment. We also have a comfortable lounge area where students can relax and socialize before and after their classes.
Our Philosophy
At Pacific Fencing Club, we believe that fencing is not just a sport, but a way of life. It is a discipline that promotes physical fitness, mental focus, and strategic thinking. It is a community that fosters camaraderie, sportsmanship, and mutual respect among its members. We strive to create an environment where our students can learn, grow, and enjoy the sport of fencing to the fullest.
Our History
The Bay Area has a rich history of fencing, dating back to the post-World War II era when many European fencers and coaches immigrated to the United States. Today, numerous fencing clubs in the area carry on this tradition, each with its own unique mission and character. We invite you to visit the West Coast Fencing Archive to learn more about the fascinating history of fencing in the Bay Area.
